Araw ng Kagitingan

Araw ng Kagitingan, also known as the Day of Valor, is a commemoration that honors the bravery and heroism of Filipino and American soldiers who fought in the World War II Battle of Bataan in the Philippines. This day serves as a tribute to the soldiers who endured extreme hardships and made sacrifices for their countries.

In 1942, thousands of Filipino and American troops were forced to surrender to Japanese forces after months of intense battle. This led to the infamous Bataan Death March, where the captured soldiers were subjected to a grueling 65-mile march to prison camps. Many soldiers lost their lives during this march due to harsh conditions and mistreatment.

By commemorating the Day of Valor, we not only pay homage to these courageous individuals but also remind ourselves of the importance of bravery, sacrifice, and resilience in the face of adversity. It serves as a reminder of our nation's history and the sacrifices made for freedom and sovereignty.
